ELEVATED TRIGLYCERIDE GLUCOSE INDEX IS RELATED TO THE PRESENCE OF HEART FAILURE

Objective: Previous studies have shown a significant associa tion between insulin resistance (IR) measured by using different methods and heart failure (HF). In recent years, the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index has been used to measure IR, there are several reports showing that TyG indicates conditions such as metabolic syndrome (MetS) atherosclerotic process. However, is no study investigating association of with HF. Therefore, we aimed evaluate role in HF presence its relationship severity this study. Material Method: Sixty-nine subjects matched for age gender were analyzed retrospectively. The was IR calculated formula Ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dl) x fasting (mg/dl)/2]. assessed New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) N- terminal prohormone brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). Results: patients had higher (9.11±0.59 vs. 8.55±0.55; p<0.001) but correlation identified NYHA LVEF NT-proBNP. ROC curve showed cut-off point determining 9.19 71% sensitivity 51% specificity (AUC:0.745, p<0.001). Conclusion: may be useful marker diagnosis HF, not correlated severity.
